About us
Fruit Importers in India, Built on Fifty Years of Produce Expertise
PR Agrifresh is a fresh fruit import company in India, incorporated in 2009 and led by Director Mr. Rakesh Sharma. We import premium fruit from nine countries, move it through a fully temperature-controlled chain and distribute it across India from offices in Navi Mumbai and Delhi. In a typical year that means more than 1,500 reefer containers.

About us
Two generations, one trade
The company's foundation was laid long before the company existed. Mr. Yograj Sharma spent five decades inside India's fresh-fruit trade, and what he built was not a warehouse — it was judgement. Which grower delivers when the season turns difficult. Which packhouse holds its grade under volume pressure. Which arrival window leaves enough shelf life for a retailer to actually sell the fruit.
Mr. Rakesh Sharma incorporated PR Agrifresh in 2009 to take that judgement international. The grower relationships, the quality discipline and the habit of walking the market personally carried forward. What was added was structure: direct sourcing contracts, programme-led buying, temperature-controlled logistics and a distribution footprint that reaches the whole country.
That inheritance is the honest answer to why buyers work with us. Anyone can find a container. Very few imported fruit suppliers in India can tell you in March what a South African citrus season is going to do by August.

What we actually do
PR Agrifresh operates as a fruit distribution company in India across four connected functions:
- 01
Sourcing — direct relationships with growers, packhouses and exporters across nine origins, with specification agreed before the season starts.
- 02
Import and compliance — documentation, phytosanitary clearance, customs and port handling at Nhava Sheva and Delhi.
- 03
Cold chain — unbroken temperature control from origin packhouse through reefer container, arrival cold storage and onward movement.
- 04
Distribution — supply to wholesalers, distributors, retail chains, HoReCa and institutional buyers nationwide.
We do not run a spot desk. Fruit is bought against a buyer's programme, which is what allows us to hold specification and give partners a price they can plan around.
The milestones that matter
| Period | What changed | Why it mattered |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-2009 | Mr. Yograj Sharma builds five decades of standing in India's fresh-fruit trade | Grower trust and market judgement that cannot be bought |
| 2009 | PR Agrifresh incorporated by Mr. Rakesh Sharma | A formal import house focused only on premium produce |
| Growth phase | Direct sourcing established across nine origins | Year-round availability instead of seasonal gaps |
| Today | 1,500+ reefer containers a year, two operating hubs | Scale to serve national retail and wholesale programmes |
Our sourcing origins
South Africa, Chile, China, New Zealand, Italy, Poland, Egypt, Turkey and Vietnam. Nine origins, selected for what each does best in its window rather than for the lowest quote of the week. A fresh produce importer in India that buys on price alone ends up with cheap fruit and expensive claims.
Reefer container discipline
Reefer container fruit import is the part of this business where money is genuinely made or lost. Pulp temperature at loading, set-point accuracy, ventilation, humidity, correct stow and continuous data logging decide whether fruit arrives sellable or arrives as a claim. Every PR Agrifresh consignment moves under 100% temperature-controlled conditions across seven handling stages, and arrival condition is checked before the fruit is released into distribution.
How we protect quality
Quality on an imported programme is decided long before the fruit reaches India. It starts with specification agreed at the orchard — variety, grade, count, colour break and maturity indices — and it is checked again at packing, at loading and on arrival. Fruit that does not meet the agreed specification is not quietly downgraded into the market; it is raised with the supplier.
That discipline is the reason our partners can plan. A distributor building a shelf programme needs to know that week 14 will look like week 12. Consistency, not one exceptional container, is what a serious buyer is actually paying for.
